GEOFF HAMILTON'S

new gardeners' foundation

Welcome to Geoff Hamilton's New Gardeners' Foundation

Geoff Hamilton’s New Gardeners’ Foundation supports students of horticulture at Geoff’s old college, Writtle near Chelmsford in Essex, at Garden Organic near Coventry, West Midlands and at Barnsdale Gardens near Oakham in Rutland.

Students may be of any age and level of attainment. 'New' may mean a teenager, mature student, or someone switching careers. If successful in their applications, they are awarded bursaries to help with their studies. The Foundation promotes Geoff’s philosophy of organic gardening, his practical knowledge, skills and love of plants.

The Foundation was started by Catalyst TV as a memorial to Geoff after his untimely death in a charity cycle race in 1996. It is financed by public donations and the sale of a DVD, a compilation of extracts of BBC Gardeners’ World showing Geoff at work in Barnsdale Gardens which he created and loved.
